| Judy McLaren Summer Heat series of paintings on display at eclectic gallery from July 13 to August 15.
A graduate of the Ontario College of Art (1979), Ms. McLaren honed her skills as an artist/illustrator for 3 years at the Royal Ontario Museum. She has been working as professional artist In Victoria, Saltspring and North Saanich for over 30 years.
She was the Artist-in-Residence at the Fairmont Empress for 7 months in 2012-13, and for the Pacific Baroque Festival in 2015. A regular participant in the Victoria Art Gallery Moss St. Paint-In, McLaren has been included in many local juried shows. She has twice won first prize: The Unmade Bed, Sooke Fine Art Show, and Morning Coffee, Sidney Fine Art Show. She also won the Sidney Plein Air Paint-Out in 2013.
McLaren has exhibited at the Winchester Galleries, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Main St. Gallery, Fran Willis Gallery, Barton Leier Gallery, Apartment Gallery, Artspring Gallery, Maltwood Gallery and the Muse Winery. While at The Empress, she was featured on U.S. Public Radio and in the Globe and Mail. She is also one of the artists included in the Robert Amos book, Artists in Their Studios, published by TouchWood in 2007. Her work hangs in collections in Canada, United States and Europe. |
